Art & Culture Series at the Kirkland Arts Center - Mad Men's Women of Pop
Informative presentations by historians, artists and lecturers. Drops- ins welcome, pre-registration is helpful
Looking back at the culture of the early 1960s and the stereotypes of women before the Women’s Liberation Movement, we will explore the work of four Pop Artists: Andy Warhol, Mel Ramos, Roy Lichtenstein, and Tom Wesselmann. In that context, we will analyze their representations of women. How did their images perpetuate the stereotypes? Were they just recreating what was already there, were they reacting to it, or was their intent totally different? Join Barbara Hennig on Oct 30, 2014 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. to discuss and decide!
