Bodies and Machines in Sculpture and Performance
KAC lecture exploring the ways artwork represents a technological extension, transformation, or intersection with a human body's experience.

Thursday, November 12, 2015 6:30 - 8 pm Kirkland Arts Center Gallery
This Kirkland Arts Center lecture will look at sculptural and performance artworks that connect the body in physical ways to technological apparatus, pulling apart the layers of the works with the help of concepts from scholars of technology studies. We will explore the ways in which these artworks represent a technological extension, transformation, or intersection with a human body’s physical and personal experience. The talk will include works by Jennifer Crupi, Stelarc, Theo Jansen, Janine Antoni, and others.
KAC provides informative presentations by historians, artists, and lecturers on art, culture, and history. Drop-ins welcome, preregistration helpful. A discount is available for those who sign up for all four lectures. See our website for more info http://www.kirklandartscenter.org.
