Make a Noise, Sound Your Voice

Drawing attention to a fundamental right that is being challenged in the upcoming election. What role does government play in the personal choices women make about our bodies?

Let me begin by saying I never do this.

Sharing my deepest thoughts with the public, well I'm just not that brave. So when I say I was moved, I was really moved, enough to actually do something.

This urge to speak out started as a small rumbling in my gut this morning when I read that Senate candidate Richard Mourdock had announced his position on abortion.

He is against abortion, even in cases of rape.

I thought to myself how lucky we "Women of Washington State" are to be living
in such a progressive and humane state.  What a nightmare it must be to live in
a state that doesn't support the rights of their female citizens. A state in which a raped woman could be forced to carry a child of rape to term by her government or be prosecuted sounded insane. This is torture or some twisted form of slavery.

What is going on? How did we slide so quickly into the extreme religious right? I had to stop shaking my head in disbelief and do something. But What?

This is my voice and I am bringing to you news that Indiana may have Richard Mourdock and we have his clone, Michael Baumgartner.

Women and Men of Washington, we are not immune to the attack of the extreme
Republican Right and their war on women.  We are not immune to the opinion that
women are not responsible enough to make decisions for their bodies.  We are not
responsible enough to choose whether to have a child or to abort the child. To make the right choice is the job of the state.

For a party platform of less government involvement this doesn't make sense.
When something is so divergent in content one has to ask, what is the purpose of
male intervention into women's right over her body?  I ask you, what light does this thinking hold of women and do we want of our government making these types of decisions over our bodies?

In this election we are asked to choose whether we want this kind of
governing or not.  Michael Baumgartner is up for election in the Senate (running against incumbent Sen. Maria Cantwell) and he represents the far, far right and wants to make those sort of decisions for us.  He has stated his position on abortion and it is the same as Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock!  He wants to decide the fates of the women of Washington State.  He is on the far right of pro-life.

Wake up ladies, get out your pen and paper, your presence, your voice and stand up with a resounding NO!

Mitt Romney has only endorsed one Senate Candidate and after the dust settles on the abortion details it's still Richard Mourdock.  Mitt Romney did announce that he did not agree with all the same polices as Richard Mourdock; and yet the adds and TV spots continue to be aired. He also has not publicly withdrawn his endorsement of him.

We as citizens have only a few tools fight for our rights, our voices and each other.

Do not support Michael Baumgartner for U.S. Senate! Spread the word, make a sound and use your voice to participate in defending our womanhood and our rights as human beings

Do not let them get their foot in the door.  Now is the time to stop the party cold. In saying a resounding NO we affirm our right to our own bodies.  The government has no place in the decision making whatsoever.

Do not forget that it is you that is sovereign of your body not some men in
the U.S. Senate.

Ladies make a noise, sound your voice.
