"I don't have any special talents that can help support Relay For Life."

EVERYONE has a special talent that can help support Relay For Life.

Ten months ago, Curt and I learned about Relay For Life.  I was unemployed, we were barely making ends meet.  We wanted to help but knew we just couldn't do it financially by ourselves.  Even though we didn't have money to give, we did have time, talent, family and friends.  We signed up 3 days before Relay For Life Juanita.  Now we had to raise money.  Our goal was $200... we really wanted to get the cool t-shirts that participants get when they raise a minimum of $100.   So, how do we raise $100 each?   We each sent an email to everyone in our email address book and posted on our Facebook pages.  We let everyone know that we needed 10 of our family and friends to donate $10.00 for each of us to reach our $100 goal.  In a matter of hours we were half way to our goal.  By the next day we had reach our collective goal of $200.   Just 10 minutes of our time turned into $200.

After the Relay For Life event in May of 2012 was over we found out that we didn't have to stop raising money for 2012.  We could keep going until the end of August.  That is where our talent came in.  I got to work baking brownies, rice crispy treats and cup cakes.  Curt took them to his work and set them in the break rooms with a tent card and Tupperware container that simply asked people to support us by making a donation for a treat.  In a few weeks, we had another $50.

The examples above are great ways to get started!   They don't take a lot of time or money.  In future blogs, I will give more examples of how you can raise much needed funds for Relay For Life Juanita.

Curt and I hope that you will take that first step and sign up for Relay For Life Juanita.
