Detective Finds Kirkland Boy's Quad, Helps Family In Need
A King County detective helped family with three kids and a father battling cancer recover some stolen property.

KIRKLAND, WA - For a young boy, getting your stolen four-wheeler back is pretty great - but it's even better when your family is going through a hard time.
King County detectives earlier this month served a warrant at a purported drug house in a southwest part of the county. During a search, one detective noticed three off-road vehicles parked in the back yard, including a motorcycle, a four-wheeler, and a four wheeler sized for a child.
The vehicles looked out of place, so the detective ran the license plates - they came back as stolen from someone in Kirkland. The detective put the motorcycle and adult quad in his truck and brought them back to the owner.

When the detective met the family, one of the three children said that his child-size quad was also stolen - all three vehicles had been inside the family's travel trailer. The detective pulled out a photo he took of the vehicles at the drug house, and the boy was able to identify the child-size quad as his own.
The next day, the detective (who works undercover) picked up the quad from the southwest county sheriff's precinct and returned it to the boy.

For the family, the detective's effort returning the stolen items was a big boost for the family: the mother is nurse at a local hospital, and the father is undergoing cancer treatment.
