INSTRUCTOR: Hamid Zavareei
Encaustic painting has been practiced for more than two thousand years. In this class we will experiment with varieties of techniques new and old that employ wax as a vehicle for painting. We will learn how to make our own wax medium and wax colors and use them in variety of techniques. We will start with simple application of layers and move into more intriguing techniques using wax for either representational or abstract
applications or both. The process would encompass layering, incising, texturing, embedding images, transferring images and incorporating paper, fabric and other material into the wax. The possibilities are wide open and you can come up with your own technique. No prerequisites. Supply list available online.
