INSTRUCTOR: Doug Parry
This class teaches us to paint what we see, rather than what we think we see. Painting live models is a time-tested, classic academic method for teaching students the skill of representational rendering via drawing, painting, sculpting and photography. This class challenges students to recognize their artistic tendencies, habits— both good and bad— and helps them form efficient studio practices while strengthen their visual perception. The skills and concepts taught in this class are designed to be applicable to any genre of painting, from representational figurative painting to abstract painting. The model serves its traditional role while also acting as a control subject for the study of raw painting. Prerequisite: Some drawing experience or painting experience recommended. Supply list available online.
