Volunteers Needed for Sandburg Elementary Natural Playground Work Party

A fun Community Work Party and Potluck Picnic for all ages, to transform an unused wooded area of Carl Sandburg Elementary / Discovery Community School campus into a Natural Playground for recess during school construction (June 2011 to Fall 2012).

Volunteers are needed to dig up blackberry roots, remove small rocks and weeds, and rake debris from the grounds, before nature trails are established in the Natural Playground. There will be a Community Potluck Picnic lunch break at noon.

Please bring your own work gloves, water bottle, and snack to share. If you have extra gardening tools to share (rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows), please bring them, as well. All volunteers will be required to sign a standard hold-harmless waiver. There will be no access to bathrooms or water fountains during the event.
