King County Council Picks Kuderer To Fill Cyrus Habib's Senate Seat
After filling Habib's seat, the county council picked a Bellevue councilwoman to fill Kuderer's seat.
KIRKLAND, WA - The King County Council on Thursday selected two local legislators to fill two vacancies in the 48th Legislative District.
To replace newly elected Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib, the council chose state Rep. Patty Kuderer, D-Clyde Hill. That selection leaves Kuderer's seat open, so the council chose Bellevue Councilwoman Vandana Slatter to fill it.
Kuderer won her election to the 48th Legislative District House seat in 2016 against Libertarian Michelle Darnell. Kuderer, an attorney with a practice in Seattle, was first appointed to the seat in September 2015, also by the King County Council.

Slatter was first elected to Bellevue City Council in 2015, and began her four-year term in January 2016.
The 48th Legislative District covers parts of Redmond, Kirkland, Bellevue, as well as Medina, Clyde Hill, and Hunts Point.
