Kirkland Chick-fil-A Will Open In August

The Kirkland Chick-fil-A will open in the Totem Lake area along Northeast 124th Street.

KIRKLAND, WA - America's most sought-after chicken is coming to Kirkland. Chick-fil-A announced Wednesday that the chain will open its newest Puget Sound location in the Totem Lake area sometime in August. This will be the sixth Chick-fil-A in Washington, and the third in the greater Seattle area.

The Kirkland Chick-fil-A will be operated by Derek Schiefer, who has risen up the ranks in the company to become an owner. He first started working for Chick-fil-A in Alabama full-time after graduating from Auburn University in 2007 (he worked there while he was in school, too), according to the company. He later became a franchise owner in Jackson, Miss., and Tallahassee, Fla., and is moving to take on the Kirkland restaurant.

The Kirkland location will be at 12106 Northeast 124th Street at the site of a former Denny's restaurant. The restaurant will employ about 120 people in full- and part-time jobs. You can check out jobs available at the restaurant here. Employees at the Kirkland restaurant will be offered a new employment benefit called Remarkable Futures, which grants up to $25,000 for college.

The last Chick-fil-A in the Puget Sound opened over the winter in Puyallup. There are locations in Lynnwood, Tacoma, Vancouver, and Bellevue (a location that notoriously caused crazy traffic backups when it opened).
