Kirkland Residents Can Now Report Crime Online

The police department touts the move as a more convenient way to report crimes like car prowls or suspicious activity.

KIRKLAND, WA - If you've ever wished for a more convenient way to report crime, you're in luck.

Kirkland police on Wednesday began offering residents the option of reporting minor crimes online. The online reporting system, the department says, is a great way to report nuisance or property crimes, or even suspicious activity.

So, if you had a package stolen or someone keyed your car, you can go online to report the crime. You will still have the option of having an officer come out and speak to you. Emergencies should still be reported to 911, however.

The online reporting has a few restrictions:

  • The crime must have occurred in Kirkland (if it happened on I-405, you'll still have to talk to Washington State Patrol)
  • A lost or stolen item must be under $750 in value
  • There must be no known suspects
  • No evidence for officers to collect

To report a crime online, visit: www.kirklandwa.gov/onlinereporting. For more information, contact Kirkland police at 425-587-3402 and ask for Lt. Mike Murray.
