Memorial Service for Woodinville Firefighter Friday

The memorial service is in Everett on Friday with a reception at Fire Station 31, after a private graveside ceremony.

A memorial service for Woodinville firefighter Matt Roodzant will be held Friday, Feb. 3 at Northshore Christian Church at 7500 23rd Drive West, Everett. Viewing will be on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 1-8 p.m. at Solie Funeral Home located at 3302 Colby Ave, Everett.

Roodzant, 38, on Camano Island Wednesday night. He was off-duty at the time, and the State Patrol said it believes alcohol was a factor in the crash. Roodzant failed to stop his pickup truck and crashed through a guard rail, hitting a tree.

Roodzant joined in 1998. In addition to his assignment at Station 31, he looked after the maintenance of the District’s self-contained breathing apparatus. Roodzant is survived by his wife of 15 years, Johanna. Matt and Johanna have three children, ages, 9, 8 and 5.

Immediately following the service Roozandt will be interred at a private graveside ceremony in Snohomish. 

A public reception will be held at Fire Station 31 after the service concludes. Station 31 is located at 17718 Woodinville-Snohomish Rd. NE, Woodinville.
