Freedom isn’t free. It should be a bragging point that ‘OH, I don’t get involved in politics’, as if that makes someone cleaner. No, that makes you derelict of duty in a republic. Liars and panderers in government would have a much harder time of it if so many people didn’t insist on their right to remain ignorant and blindly agreeable.

Certainly a worthwhile topic to discuss. Ben Franklin is reputed to have answered a citizen, who asked him what kind of government the convention had placed her under, “a republic, mam, if you can keep it.”

I don’t care if you’re liberal or libertarian, democrat or republican, socialist or capitalist… but you must become knowledgeable and participate. And, if you insist on staying out of the fray, kindly keep your mouth shut.
