Small Dog Mauled To Death At Kirkland Park
Lulu, an 8-year-old papillon, died after being attacked at Kingsgate Park on Friday.

KIRKLAND, WA - A small dog was mauled to death Friday at Kingsgate Park in Kirkland, and the dog's bereaved owners are trying to track down the owner of dog at fault. Kirkland resident Carlee Kerr posted about the death of her 8-year-old papillon, Lulu, on Faebook Friday. Kerr's husband, James, was walking Lulu when the attack happened, and he rushed from the scene to bring Lulu to a vet before he could find out more about the owner of the attacking dog.
Here's how Kerr described the incident:
"A little over an hour ago my sweet dog Lulu was taken from this world. While on her daily walk with my husband in the Kirkland Kingsgate park she was attacked by two dogs. A lady had her boxer and malamute (or husky or possibly German shepherd mix) off leash...she told my husband to pick up our dog so she didn't get trampled.

"He picked our Lulu up and the malamute dog ripped her by the tail from my husbands arms and attacked her on the ground. My husband fought the dogs off and picked Lulu up and ran as fast as he could to get her help...but nothing could be done, she took her last breath at the animal hospital moments after she got there. We made a police report but don't know who these dogs belong to. The owner was middle aged and drove a smaller green SUV. If you have any information please help us!"
KOMO News' Gabe Cohen reported Saturday that another Kirkland woman's dog was attacked in a similar fashion recently at Kingsgate Park. Laura Shouse was walking with her 3-year-old Australian shepherd, Tah-Boo, when a malamute grabbed the dog from her and dragged it into the bushes. Tah-Boo survived but was seriously injured.
