Snapchat 'Middle Finger' Photo Gets Girls Softball Team Booted From Kirkland Championship
A player from the softball team from Mechanicsville, Va., posted the middle-finger photo on Snapchat.

KIRKLAND, WA - A girls softball team from Virginia was booted from a championship game at the Little League World Series after a photo surfaced of the team flipping off the Kirkland team. A member of the Mechanicsville, Va., team posted the photo on Snapchat, according to reports, with the caption "watch out host." The championship was played in Kirkland and broadcast on ESPN.
Only six members of the Atlee junior league softball team appeared in the Snapchat photo, but it was enough to get the whole team thrown out of the championship. The team is comprised of girls age 12 to 14.
The flip-off photo was discovered Friday after the Atlee team beat Kirkland 1-0. After Atlee was booted from the series, Kirkland was picked to replace them during Saturday's championship game. Kirkland lost 7-1.

In removing the Atlee team, the Little League International Tournament Committee said that the gesture had violated the league's policies regarding unsportsmanlike conduct.
The president of the Atlee league, Jamie Batten, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the team will cooperate with any investigation. Batten said that the team would "brush themselves off ... and try again" in the wake of the incident.
