Suspect In Over 100 Kirkland Area Car Prowls Sought

Authorities are looking for Hugh "Pat" P. Doherty for crimes in King and Snohomish counties.

REDMOND, WA - King County detectives are looking for a man suspected of committing over 100 car prowls in northeast King County and southeast Snohomish County.

Police have served warrants on Hugh "Pat" P. Doherty's home and car, but haven't located him yet. They believe he is being hidden by acquaintances. According to police, Doherty has a long criminal history with nine felony, 10 gross misdemeanor, and two misdemeanor convictions.

Doherty is wanted on two counts of eluding, 18 counts of vehicle prowl, one count of theft, two counts of identity theft, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of reckless driving. He also has a felony warrant for escape and eluding.

According to reports, Doherty has targeted cars parked at schools and churches in the area. In one incident, Doherty allegedly broke into a car and stole a purse while a young girl was inside. That incident happened at the Goddard School in Redmond.

Doherty, 38, is about 6 feet tall with a thin, athletic build. He is described as having "sunken cheeks" and often alters his facial hair.

King County Sheriff's Det. Jessica Santos noted that several of his acquaintances and his girlfriend were recently arrested. And, she said, anyone caught harboring him will be arrested.
