Symetra Employees Give Back in Kirkland

"We are proud to support our employees' volunteer spirit during Symetra Week of Service." – CEO Margaret Meister

Symetra set out to make a big impact in communities across its office footprint earlier this month as the national provider of employee benefits, annuities and life insurance celebrated the power of volunteerism during its 11th annual Symetra Week of Service.

From June 10–14, nearly 600 employees from the company's Bellevue headquarters took a break from their workday to give back at 34 nonprofit organizations around the Puget Sound, including several Kirkland-based orgs.

Symetra Week of Service teams took on multiple projects on behalf of the City of Kirkland Parks & Community Services, helping remove invasive plant species like blackberry shrubs at Houghton Beach Park and along the Greenbelt Pathway and CKC Trail. Crews also volunteered at the Peter Kirk Community Center to give the kitchen a nice spring clean!

Symetra volunteers turned out on behalf of the Green Kirkland Partnership, helping improve the habitat at Juanita Beach Park by removing invasive plants and mulching, as well as prepping veggie gardens at the Tilth Learning Center Garden at McAuliffe Park.

“We are proud to support our employees’ volunteer spirit during Symetra Week of Service and throughout the year,” said Symetra CEO Margaret Meister, who helped clear blackberry shrubs along the CKC Trail. “As individuals, our employees are empowered to give back to the causes and organizations that matter to them personally through hands-on service opportunities like this. Every year, we all look forward to this powerful expression of Symetra’s ‘Swift to Serve’ core value as we come together on behalf of our communities.”
