Understanding Glaze

Learn all about glaze by testing out different systems of glazing efficiently, and create your own glazing recipe.

This will be about glaze testing. No amount of lecturing or reading can take the place of testing, so we’ll try to have a firing between each of the classes. We’ll be talking about different systems of testing glazes efficiently, and how to make glaze tests and interpret them effectively. The ultimate goal of this class, if you do all the assignments, is to leave the class with at least one glaze recipe that is completely new, completely yours, that you have designed yourself. You’ll have your choice of working at cone 10 or cone 6 on your choice of clay bodies. You’ll need to have glaze test tiles ready when the class starts. See supply list for more details. It’ll be fun. Honest!
