1 Dead After 4 Car Collision In South Spanaway
This is the fourth deadly crash in the region in just over one week.
LAKEWOOD, WA — A driver was killed when they rode into oncoming traffic and caused four cars, including their own, to collide on State Route 7 near the intersection with 205th St Ct E in Spanaway.
According to a collision report from Washington State Department of Transportation, the crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
After a preliminary investigation into the crash, Washington State Patrol Trooper Ryan Burke says it appears a driver had been heading north in a Chevy Cobalt, but had crossed the center lane and pulled into oncoming traffic, slamming into a Chevy Tahoe. The collision between the Cobalt and the Tahoe caused both cars to spin out and crash into two other vehicles.

The driver of the Cobalt, who had caused the accident by swerving into the wrong lanes, died in the collision. None of the occupants or drivers in the three other vehicles were seriously injured. Burke says it's still unclear why the Cobalt driver drove into oncoming traffic in the first place.
Update: The causing driver, who unfortunately passed, was traveling north in a Chevy Cobalt. It crossed the center turn lane for an unknown reason, striking a Chevy Tahoe, which was traveling in a southbound lane. -NS https://t.co/BrNIp2u2Ws pic.twitter.com/OCsi084m8k
