9 Clover Park Schools to Provide Kids With Free Lunches Over Summer Break

Federally funded program that will run throughout July targets children 18 and under; last year, 13,000 meals were served.

The Clover Park School District will offer free lunch during weekdays this summer for children in need. Meals through the federal Simplified Summer Feeding Program for Children will be available on a first come, first serve basis for children 18 and under.

CPSD Director of Student Nutrition Kevin Scott said the community has many children in need.

“Last year, we served more than 13,000 meals in our summer program and we hope to exceed that this year at our nine locations,” he said. “We are very fortunate that the federal program is there to support our children.”

All meals must be consumed on site; children are not allowed to take any food with them.

Meals will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, from July 2-27 at the following schools:

Oakwood Elementary School

Lunches will also be offered from July 2 through Aug. 9 at . There will be no lunches served at any school on July 4.

The Simplified Summer Feeding Program for Children is a federally funded program supervised by Washington state’s Office of the Superintendent for Public Instruction. For more information, contact CPSD’s student nutrition services department at 253-583-5490.
