• Photos: THE DOCENT by Donna Kaz Will Make World Premiere at Lakewood Playhouse (broadwayworld.com) — Lakewood Playhouse is premiering the new play "The Docent" from October 9–25 at its Lakewood Towne Center theater, with evening and matinee performances plus a Pay What You Can night. The story follows an urban forestry expert in 1980s New York, exploring friendship, loss, and courage. Lakewood residents can already buy tickets online or by calling the box office.
   

• Over a thousand without power in Pierce County after region-wide high winds (thenewstribune.com) — High winds knocked out power for 692 customers in Lakewood and hundreds more in Tacoma and on Herron Island on Friday morning, with no restoration time yet listed. Tacoma Public Utilities says falling, leaf-heavy trees are to blame and urges residents to report outages through its online map. Crews are working to restore electricity as safely and quickly as possible.
