Here are Pierce Co. food scores for Sept. 21 (thenewstribune.com) — Two Lakewood restaurants on South Tacoma Way, Mukja Korean BBQ and Yen Ching, were hit with high red-point scores in recent health inspections, triggering required follow-ups. Inspectors cited problems with food temperatures, handwashing, cooling practices, and equipment approvals. A DuPont restaurant also received 60 red points, highlighting broader food safety enforcement across Pierce County.
   

• Woman accused of trying to stab 2 children found competent to stand trial (cascadiadaily.com) — A Bellingham woman accused of trying to kill two children was ruled competent to stand trial after months of psychiatric treatment. Following emergency care and a stay in Tumwater, she spent 90 days at Western State Hospital in Lakewood for mental health restoration. Her new trial date will be set this week in Whatcom County Superior Court.
