Construction could start this month (mynorthwest.com) — Lakewood is set to get Pierce County's first Raising Cane's, planned for 10025 Lakewood Drive SW just down the street from Chick-fil-A, with construction targeted to start October 21. Records show permits and stormwater approvals are already in place, while separate projects in Puyallup and Burlington are still moving through city reviews.
2. Man found guilty of trying to kidnap Lakewood bikini barista (kiro7.com) — A Lakewood jury has convicted a 19-year-old man of attempting to kidnap a bikini barista at Ladybug Bikini Espresso in the city last August, after surveillance video showed him grabbing her arm and trying to pull her through the window. Police identified him through a credit card receipt, and he later blamed drugs and alcohol; sentencing is set for November 20.
3. High-Stakes Poker Player Eric Persson To Rebuy, Reopen Washington Casinos (cardplayer.com) — Lakewood gamblers and casino workers can breathe easier as high-stakes poker player Eric Persson moves to buy back several Washington casinos, including Chip's, Macau and Palace casinos in Lakewood, keeping them open. 4. Sounder trains to run for Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers (thefactsnewspaper.com) — If you're heading from Lakewood to Sunday's Seahawks–49ers game, Sounder will run three special S Line trains starting in Lakewood, including an express leaving at 9:51 a.m. The added service offers a direct, traffic-free ride to King Street Station, with return trains leaving shortly after the final whistle and plenty of ORCA payment options to speed boarding.
5.
