Annual Lakewood Fallen Officer Food Drive Underway

Nov. 29 also marks the 7th anniversary of the ambush shooting of four Lakewood officers.

LAKEWOOD, WA - Visit the Lakewood Police Department today to participate in the 7th annual food drive in memory of the four Lakewood officers killed in a 2009 shooting in Parkland. The department will accept food and money donations until 6 p.m. every day until Dec. 2.

This year, the department has new fundraising goals. They want to reach 150,000 pounds of food and $150,000. Over the past six donation drives, the department has raised a cumulative 135,000 pounds of food and $138,000 in donations. That means they need to collect some 15,000 pounds of food and $12,000 in donations this year to hit their goal. All proceeds go to the Emergency Food Network of Pierce County.

The drive honors the four Lakewood officers - Sgt. Mark Renniger, and officers Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens, and Greg Richards - who were ambushed and shot on Nov. 29, 2009, at a coffee shop in Parkland.
