August 2020 Primary Election: What's On The Ballot In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, WA — Ballots and voters' pamphlets are on the way to Pierce County mailboxes, with dozens of offices up for election and two ballot measures to consider. This year, Washingtonians will cast votes for several statewide offices, including the governor, attorney general and secretary of state.

In Washington, the 2020 Primary Election takes place Tuesday, August 4, and all ballots must be postmarked or returned to a dropbox by election day. In the general election last November, nearly 40 percent of all of Pierce County's registered voters cast their ballots.

  • July 17: Ballots mailed to all voters
  • July 19: Most voters should receive their ballots by this date.
  • July 20: Voters who have not received their ballot by Tuesday should check their voter registration status or call 253-798-VOTE.
  • July 27: New voter registrations or updated registrations must be completed online or via mail by this date. Residents still have an opportunity to register in-person at a voting center through election day.
  • August 4: Ballots must be postmarked by election day, meaning they should be mailed before this date. If there is uncertainty, ballots can be safely returned to any dropbox location any time before polls close at 8 p.m.
