Beachwood Elementary's Next Principal Has Longtime Ties to CPSD

Meghan Eakin is currently the dean of students at Woodbrook Middle School.

Meghan Eakin is headed back to the beach.

Beachwood Elementary School, to be exact, as its new principal.

Eakin, currently the dean of students at Woodbrook Middle School, previously served four years as a consultant teacher and classroom coach at the elementary school on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. She also spent five years at Southgate Elementary School as a fourth-grade teacher and instructional facilitator.

She was selected to replace , who has accepted a job as a middle-school principal at the International School of the Port of Spain in Trinidad & Tobago.

"Meghan has a vision for Beachwood Elementary that resonates with me and the parents who attended the community forum,” said Clover Park School District Superintendent Debbie LeBeau. “She wants to create a school where parents are an integral part of their child's education; to have school space for community resources and feel welcome in the school.”

LeBeau said that Eakin brings a wide range of experience to her new role, having served in several positions within CPSD, as well as participating on district committees and attending a yearlong principal preparation academy.

“Meghan knows that the instructional practices at Beachwood are getting great results and she wants to be a part of moving the school and community to the next level,” she said. “I look forward to Meghan joining the administrative leadership team in CPSD."

Eakin earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Martin's College, a master’s degree from the University of Washington Tacoma, and will finish her administrative credentials there in June.

Her appointment as Beachwood’s new principal is effective July 1, pending School Board approval at its May 14 meeting.
