Community Garden Project at United Methodist Church in Lakewood
Community outreach provides for green thumb residents of Lakewood. Church members and Pierce College students work together to create a garden plots for local gardeners.

Lakewood residents with green thumbs are invited to sow their own personal garden plots at the United Methodist Church at Lakewood. The Pea Patches are about five feet by eight feet in size, and are being constructed by local Eagle Scout, James McEacher as a community service project.
Garden plots are located adjacent to the United Methodist Church on Steilacvoom Boulevardf. The Pea Patch gardens are free to area residents, and "farmers" are asked to donate a portion of their harvest to the FISH Food Bank located in the church.
A water source is available.

Curt and Debbie Warmington are spearheading this project, along with help from Pierce College, with an eye to creating a permaculture garden. Plans for the grounds include fruit trees, a labyrinth for meditation, and a self-sustaining garden.
