Protect Community Character by Signing the Petition
"One of the tragedies of a civilized society is that no one wants to get involved. What becomes appropriate is to mind our own business." -Erwin Raphael McManus
“One of the tragedies of a civilized society is that no one wants to get involved. What becomes appropriate is to mind our own business. When we join a community that lacks a passionate heart for the world, we soon find ourselves acquiescing to apathy.” (Erwin Raphael McManus, “The Barbarian Way”, p.123)
Attached is a petition upon which we of the Tillicum Action Committee would appreciate your signature. Also attached is an explanation.
The petition is to further communicate to our elected representatives our opposition to the relocation of the Camp Murray gate to the interior streets of our community.

Lakewood Assistant City Manager Dave Bugher has stated that “if community opposition mounts Lakewood ultimately could block the project by refusing to issue a street-opening permit.”
Also attached is a flow-chart developed by the city depicting the decision-making entities within Lakewood. At the top, as they should be, are the people. We are asking you, the people, to support the vitality, livability, and values of people and property that are all at stake in this issue.

We would like to present these completed petitions to the City Council the evening of Sept.6th. Consequently the return date requested is August 31 to communitymattersweb@gmail.com.
To authorize your signature, please complete a single row of information for each in your household and return that information via email. We will receive that as authorization for placing those you’ve indicated on a hard copy for delivery to the Council.
Of course we would want you to print as many copies of the petition as you can and go door-to-door in your neighborhood collecting signatures as well.
Again, you need not be from Tillicum to participate in this campaign. This is about community values—wherever you live.
