Reconnect with nature: Best-selling author Richard Louv tells how at Pierce College this Thursday

Richard Louv, author of “The Nature Principle: Reconnecting with Life in a Virtual Age,” advocates for a healthier balance between technology and nature so that we can experience the best of both.
Louv will bring his message to Pierce College Puyallup when he speaks at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Arts and Allied Health Theatre.
Louv encourages a worldwide return to the restorative powers of nature to boost mental acuity and creativity, promote health and wellness, and build smarter and more sustainable businesses, communities and economies.

Students and staff have been reading Louv's New York Times best-seller. It's the 2013 Pierce College Common Book, a community movement to learn, discuss, and create around a single text.
The author and journalist is best known for his earlier book, “Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder.” The work sparked an international movement to reconnect children with nature and introduced the term "nature-deficit disorder."
