Whitehurst and Seahawks Hang on for 35-25 Upset against the Giants
Seattle Hangs on for a huge upset win over the New York Giants. They had lost nine games in a row on the road. Seahawks were not going to let it happen for the 10th time.

Wow, what a weekend for Seattle Seahawks fans.
Seattle pulled off a 35-25 upset against the New York Giants. This game was exciting at times and down-right scary too. The game could have gone either way but Seattle hung on for the victory, improving their overall record to 2-3.
Seattle quarterbacks Charlie Whitehurst and Tavaris Jackson had good games. Whitehurst started slow but found his groove. Jackson was 15-for-22 for 166 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Whitehurst was completed 11 passes for 149 yards and a TD.

Both got the job done.
Seattle’s offensive line was great. There were several plays where they blocked perfectly. It was part of the reason Seattle had success early on and often. My hat goes off to the big guys who are getting better every week. They did allowed six sacks, but that is expected facing the sack-happy Giants.

There were big plays all around for Seattle. Marshawn Lynch exploded for a 47 yard gain, then scored on the next play. Doug Baldwin — who at this point would get my vote for rookie of the year — had eight catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Hargrove had a huge tackle for a Seahawks safety, stuffing Danny Ware in the end zone. Safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor both had interceptions.
But the biggest play was Brandon Browner. He returned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown when the Giants were threatning to take the lead and potentially the game in the fourth quarter.
But the Seahawks still have to improve. Lynch fumbled and fullback Michael Robinson coughed the ball up at the 1-yard line. I am going to be very critical of the secondary this week; sure they had three interceptions and three sacks, but they gave up 420 yards and three touchdowns.
They have got to get better against the pass, or teams will keep finding ways of exploiting them.
There were several times where they appeared lost or blew coverage. They have youth and speed but, and they need to find a way to take advantage of it. As of now, teams view this as a weakness and are clearly taking abusing it.
Tavaris Jackson has a strained pectoral and we are waiting for the MRI today. Thankfully, it comes on Seattle’s bye week, which will allow Jackson more time to heal.
