Children Shaken, Unhurt in School Bus Crash in Lakewood
No injuries were reported in the accident, which happened around noon Wednesday.
Nearly 50 children on their way home from Custer and Oakbrook elementary schools were shaken up when their school bus collided with a car Wednesday in Lakewood.
The Clover Park School District Emergency Response team along with Lakewood Police arrived around noon to a collision that totaled a vehicle and left a sizeable dent in the yellow bus at the intersection of 88th and Woodbourne Street.
Some of the 46 children were noticeably distraught, crying inside the bus and asking to get off. Response crews evaluated the children from inside the bus, and no injuries were reported, according to a statement from the district.

Another bus arrived and emergency crews transferred the children so they could continue their trip home. Others were sent home with parents at the scene.

The bus was attempting to make a left turn onto Woodbourne when the collision occurred. District spokeswoman Kim Prentice said there would be a notification sent to the families. Prentice was unable to comment on how the accident occurred.
Barbara Zimmerman had three nephews on the bus and drove off later with them in her vehicle.
"One of mine was crying (on the bus) but he's OK," she said.
