Clinic at Valley Cities Names Director

New clinic in Tacoma area will bring customized, clinically-proven treatment to veterans and their families statewide

As construction continues for the first Steven A. Cohen Military Clinic at Valley Cities, Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) and Valley Cities announces Nichole Ayres as the Clinic Director for the new location. The clinic is expected to open late this fall serving veterans and their families across the state.

Ayres will oversee all clinical operations at the Cohen Clinic at Valley Cities while following Evidence-based Practice guidelines through treatment. She brings more than eight years of experience to the clinic, with a special focus on the treatment of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma and anxiety. She was previously the Clinical Manager at Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare where she provided direct clinical supervision to clinicians and peer support specialists. A military spouse of nearly 10 years, Ayres’ is also local resident of the area.

“I am honored to join the new Cohen Clinic where we will have the opportunity to provide much needed services for post-9/11 veterans who are dealing with invisible wounds like PTSD, anxiety and depression,” Ayres said. “As a member of the military community myself, I have witnessed firsthand the many hardships that can affect not only veterans, but also their families. I’m looking forward to leading our team of professionals who will be dedicated to making an impact in the lives of veterans and their families in our community.”

More than 110,000 post-9/11 Washington veterans will soon be able to receive customized life-saving mental health care at no or low-cost through The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Valley Cities. The expected wait between first contact and a first appointment at a Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic is less than one week. For anyone in crisis, the Cohen Clinic will schedule same day appointments. In-person and telehealth treatment is available for a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment issues, anger, grief & loss, family issues, transitional challenges, relationship problems, and child behavioral problems.

The Cohen Veterans Network is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit, clinically integrated mental health system for post-9/11 veterans and their families.
