Clover Park Boys Soccer Team Recognized For Its Sportsmanship

The team received the Pierce County Soccer Referees Association's award for the best sportsmanship last year, and they're in line to it again this year.

For the Clover Park boys soccer team, the Beautiful Game isn't just about putting the ball in the back of the net.

The Warriors also respect the game and the team on the other side of the pitch. It's why they were recognized last year for their sportsmanship, and they're on pace to do it again this year.

Head Coach Mario Guadron tells Patch that the team received the Pierce County Soccer Referees Association's Sportsmanship Banner, awarded to the team with the highest collective rating of sportsmanship based on reports filed after each game.

This year, the team is making a good, if not better, impression on the PCSRA, based on an e-mail from Dave Painton, the group's treasurer and a Clover Park alumnus himself.

"In just the short time I was with them today I see a great possibility of them repeating," Painton wrote to Clover Park officials last week. "Coach has an
excellent attitude towards Sportsmanship and I think it probably carries over to the players. Looks like a good group of young men."

Congratulations to Coach Guadron and the team. You all make us proud.

The Warriors, by the way, host cross-town rival Lakes at 7 p.m., tonight at Harry Lang Stadium.
