SCHOOLS LEVY UPDATE: Superintendent LeBeau "Pleased and Thankful For the Support"
The educational programs and operations levy for the Clover Park School District in Lakewood stays above water as Tuesday's election night records less than 8,000 votes.

Lakewood residents have sided with the Clover Park School District 2012 replacement levy through election night. Yes voters have claimed 56.8 percent or 4,421 of the entire ballot measure.
Here is a statement from Debbie LeBeau, superintendent of the CPSD:
“We are very pleased and thankful for the support our community has shown us," LeBeau said. "With the uncertainty of the state budget, this will provide some stability to the educational programs and services we provide. I’d like to extend my sincere appreciation to more than 100 volunteers who waved signs, wrote letters and shared information to help the levy get approved."

LeBeau added she anticipates the number of total votes will increase their margin of victory and retain levy approval. Historically, the number of votes cast in the distirct's elections has been between 8,000-11,000 votes, she said.
About 1,000 votes separate the difference of 7,784 as of Wednesday. Check back for an updated count after 4 p.m. The election won't be certified until Feb. 28, which allows ballots mailed in from other parts of the world or on Feb. 14 to be counted.
