Clover Park Schools Seeking Sponsors For Daffodil Float
Community support sought for entry into annual festival next month.

The Clover Park School District Daffodil Float Committee is seeking community support in creating this year’s float for the annual Daffodil Festival next month.
Led by CPSD employee Terese Tveten-High, a longtime Lakewood resident, the committee of volunteers creates a float each year from scratch on a $2,000 budget. Last year’s float won the fourth-place Daffodilian Award, and the 2010 float won first place for cities with more than 10,000 residents.
This year’s festival theme is “Don't Stop Believing.” The float will be ridden by students from Tillicum and Idlewild Elementary Schools, the schools attended by this year’s CPSD Daffodil Princesses, Cinthia Vazquez of Clover Park and Madison Newberry of Lakes.

The Grand Floral Parade travels through Tacoma, Sumner, Puyallup and Orting on April 14.
All float sponsors will have their organization’s name and logo prominently displayed on the float and the CPSD website. Those contributing $250 or more will be listed in the district’s newsletter, which is mailed to every home in Lakewood.

The Daffodil Festival started in 1933 as a tribute to the Puyallup Valley Flower industry and has grown to be one of the largest festivals and parades in the nation.
CPSD has participated in the festival and parade for the past 48 years; festival rules require a float entry in order for students to participate in Daffodil activities, which include the princesses, bands, cheer squads, drill and dance teams.
