Clover Park Technical College President Takes Leadership Role In National Organization
Dr. John Walstrum joins the American Association of Community Colleges' Commission on Economic and Workforce Development.

Dr. John Walstrum, president of , has been appointed to the Commission on Economic and Workforce Development with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
This commission and others, act in an advisory capacity to the AACC Board of Directors in areas that reflect key aspects of the Association’s work on behalf of the nation’s 1,200 community and technical colleges.
There are a total of six commissions, each with a specific area of focus. The six commissions are:

- Commission on Academic, Student and Community Development
- Commission on Communications and Marketing
- Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity
- Commission on Economic and Workforce Development
- Commission on Global Education
- Commission on Research, Technology and Emerging Trends
AACC commissions were established to accomplish the following:
- Provide advice to the AACC Board and staff;
- Encourage collaboration among community college entities and organizations;
- Provide a forum for focused conversation about the important community college issues and priorities of the day;
- Provide for increased involvement in the Association by AACC member CEOs and other professional staff; and
- Provide leadership opportunities for members of the AACC Board of Directors (who serve as chairs).
The AACC is a national organization representing close to 1,200 community, junior and technical colleges nationwide. Community colleges are the largest and fastest growing sector of higher education, enrolling more than 13 million credit and non-credit students annually.
