Deputies Search For Suspects Who Placed Explosive In Mailbox

Investigators say the group who blew up a Spanaway mailbox may have been responsible for similar explosions nearby.

SPANAWAY, WA — Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department are trying to track down several suspects who blew up a mailbox in Spanaway, and may be responsible for several other explosions in the area.

According to investigators, it all happened on the night of Tuesday, July 7, at a community mailbox on 18th Avenue CT. E. They've released the footage below, which shows the suspects as their car rolls up to the mailboxes. A man can be seen jumping out of the passenger seat, setting an explosive inside the box, lighting the fuse, then hopping in the car as it pulls away. The box explodes shortly after.

Several other explosions were reported in that area later that night, though investigators have not been able to definitively link them to these suspects.
