Election Update: Incumbent Wagemann Victorious Over Caldwell in Clover Park School Board Race

Wednesday's final vote count shows University Place's Daniel Rankin ahead of Lakewood's Waylin McCurley for the West Pierce Fire & Rescue Board of Commissioners seat.

While the county will continue to count ballots, and the Secretary of State's Office must certify the results by Nov. 29, Lakewood and University Place voters have voiced their opinions.

In the hunt for Clover Park School Director Position No. 5, incumbent has won the race against  by a difference of 588 votes.

As of late Wednesday, Wagemann led the race with 4,114 (53.64 percent) votes to Caldwell's 3,526 (46.15 percent), respectively.

The county will continue to count ballots, and the Secretary of State's Office must certify the results by Nov. 29.

"I'm encouraged," Wagemann said. "I enjoy the opportunity to serve the community. The reason I'm involved politically is so we can restore the American dream for our children and our children's children."

Wagemann said he'd pursue a state representative position in 2012. For now, he's content with the victory and the opportunity to serve on the Clover Park School Board.

In the race for West Pierce Fire & Rescue Position No. 3 seat, University Place's earned 7,871 votes (57.66) against Lakewood's 5,780 (42.34), respectively.

"Thank you to the voters for supporting me," Rankin said. "It was two good people running for one seat. I'm privileged to be elected again."

None of the Lakewood City Council seats were challenged this election cycle.
