Learn how you can be involved in your child's first school experience outside the home. High adult to child ratio means lots of helping hands and individual attention for each child. The teacher at Steilacoom Co-op, Ms. Laurel, believes children learn best in an environment that allows them to touch, smell, taste, hear & see things themselves. Not only must the learning be multi-sensory and hands-on; it must include some risk taking. It is risk taking to play with messy paints, try on dress up clothes or talk to someone new at school. The child who is allowed to take risks becomes secure in his or her own ability to learn something new and different, i.e. letters, numbers, and writing.

Affiliated with Bates Technical College, our preschool program is designed to meet the needs of families and children of Steilacoom, Lakewood, DuPont and the surrounding communities. We offer sibling-discounts on tuition and military scholarships.
Our classroom is set up to encourage new and "risky" learning. Learning centers provide opportunities for art, science, math, reading, and social interaction with large blocks of time to accomplish all the things children's minds and bodies are ready to learn.
We are now accepting enrollment for the following classes:
- 2-year-olds: Tuesday, Thursday 12:15pm-1:45pm (mommy and me class - $50 per month) With one Tuesday off per month for teacher in-service days.
