Fatal Lakewood Motorcycle Crash: Police Say Driver Following Too Close
The crash blocked lanes along northbound I-5 for more than 3 hours Friday.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A motorcyclist from Aberdeen died after hitting a car in the northbound lanes of I-5 on Friday afternoon. The crash happened just before noon near Berkeley Avenue in Lakewood. For a short time, the crash was blocking all northbound lanes, and the highway was partially blocked for a total of three hours.
State police spokesman Brooke Bova said that the motorcyclist crashed into the back of the car. Later Friday, a preliminary state police investigation determined that the motorcyclist failed to stop in time before colliding with the car.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old woman from Olympia, was not injured in the crash. The motorcyclist was identified as Austin Mullikin, 22.
