5th Death, 231 Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Pierce County
A fifth person has died due to the new coronavirus in Pierce County. Officials have also confirmed 45 new cases of the virus.
LAKEWOOD, WA — The Tacoma - Pierce County Health Department confirms a fifth resident has passed away due to the coronavirus. The latest victim has been identified only as a resident of the Lakewood area, and marks the third coronavirus-related death in Lakewood over the past two days.
Health officials have also confirmed 45 new cases of the virus, bringing the total number of cases in Pierce County to 231. Officials say they've now tested 4,310 residents, with just over 5 percent of tests coming back positive.

Parkland: 17 cases
Puyallup: 16 cases (1 death)
Gig Harbor: 14 cases
Edgewood/Fife/Milton area: 13 cases
Lakewood: 12 cases (3 deaths)
Central Pierce County: 11 cases
South Hill: 10 cases
East Pierce County: 9 cases
Spanaway: 8 cases (1 death)
University Place: 8 cases
Frederickson: 7 cases
Lake Tapps/Sumner: 7 cases
Bonney Lake: 6 cases
Graham: 6 cases
South Pierce County: 4 cases
JBLM: 3 cases
Southwest Pierce County: 3 cases
Key Peninsula: 2 cases
35% of the confirmed coronavirus cases have been in patients 60 years old or older. Patients 60 or older are most at risk for the virus, but health officials say anyone who is pregnant or with other underlying health conditions can also be at a high risk.
