Final List of Lakewood Residents Running for Public Office
Most residents are running unopposed in the 2011 election process.
Paul Bocchi
Lakewood resident Paul Bocchi was ready for competition. Having already held a number of fundraiser and preliminary campaign events, he had gone into the filing period expecting a primary.
But as time wore on, Bocchi became the only interested candidate in landing Lakewood City Council position No. 7, held by Neary, whose term expires at the end of the year. He will be running unopposed.

Marie Barth
Incoming Lakewood Councilwoman Marie Barth will represent Lakewood position No. 6 formerly held by Claudia Thomas since she is not being challenged.

Barth has a strong background in small businesses, a unique quality among the current council. Barth has owned a small business in Lakewood for 25 years. One of the No. 1 things she's pushing for is attracting more people and businesses into Lakewood.
A fiscally conservative politician, Barth said the city needs to ensure it is protecting property values of Lakewood homeowners and continuing to improve the quality of public education.
Don Anderson
Lakewood Deputy Mayor Don Anderson announced his intention to seek reelection to the Lakewood City Council. He was elected in 2008 to position No. 4 and will seek another four-year term. He is running unopposed.
Clover Park School Board
There are three members up for reelection, however only one is being challenged.
Jose (Pepe) Salamanca will be running unopposed for Director Pos. No 1.
Carole K. Jacobs will be running unopposed for Director Pos. No. 2.
Paul Wagemann, the incumbent for Director Pos. No. 5, will be challenged by Janet Caldwell.
West Pierce Fire & Rescue
Waylin L. McCurley of Lakewood will compete against Daniel Rankin of University Place in the voting process of the first West Pierce Board of Directors.
Lakewood Water District
John S. Korsmo, Jr., who holds the Commissioner No. 3 position, will be running unopposed.
