Fire At Macau Casino Was Intentional: West Pierce Fire
The fire broke out Monday around 7 p.m. at the casino along South Tacoma Way.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A fire that broke out in the Macau Casino in Lakewood on Monday night was intentionally set, West Pierce fire investigators have determined.
The fire broke out around 7 p.m. Monday at the casino along South Tacoma Way. The fire filled the casino with smoke, and forced the evacuation of the building.
When firefighters arrived, they determined that the fire had been set in a women's restroom. The fire department credited the building's sprinkler system with saving lives and property.

"Without the automatic sprinkler system in place, the fire would have quickly spread and the incident would have been much larger," West Pierce wrote in a bulletin about the fire.
Lakewood police will handle the arson investigation.
