Gutierrez Funeral: Procession Will Pass Through Lakewood

Here's where in Lakewood you can pay your respects to Tacoma Officer Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A planned funeral procession for Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez, the Tacoma officer killed last week in the line of duty, will pass through the city on Friday morning on its way to the Tacoma Dome.

The procession route begins at the north gate of Joint Base Lewis-McChord along 112th Street South. Emergency vehicles will stage at the base beginning at 5 a.m., so there may be delays in the area during the morning rush hour.

The procession to the Tacoma Dome will begin around 10 a.m. The route leaves JBLM and heads northbound along South Tacoma Way. The procession will leave Lakewood near the B&I Public Marketplace, but will continue north along South Tacoma Way all the way to the Tacoma Dome.

According to a press release from JBLM, the base is expecting a few thousand vehicles to participate in the procession. The base was the staging point for 6,000 vehicles during a 2009 procession for the four Lakewood officers killed by Maurice Clemmons.
