Hearing Loud Booms? JBLM Training With Big Guns This Week

The base will be using M777 155mm Howitzers in training exercises through Wednesday.

LAKEWOOD, WA - If you hear loud booming noises around town this week, it's just training at Joint Base Lewis-McChord involving large guns.

The First Battalion, 37th Field Artillery will be training with M777 155mm Howitzer guns (see the picture above) between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and midnight today through Wednesday. Firing will take place from two firing points on the base. The military says that residents may notice firing during the day, evening, and nighttime hours.

Questions about noise may be directed to the JBLM Public Affairs Office External Communications Division hotline at 253-967-0852.
