Abandoned Lakewood Infant: Mom, Dad Located And Facing Charges

Police say the mother abandoned the baby boy in a residential neighborhood after taking drugs.

LAKEWOOD, WA - Police have located the parents of an infant boy found abandoned early Monday morning in Lakewood.

According to Lakewood police, the mother was at St. Clare Hospital Monday morning when she saw media coverage of the missing infant. Lakewood detectives responded to the hospital and questioned the mother. She told them that she was at a home in Lakewood Sunday night and had done drugs. Growing paranoid, she fled the home and left her baby, hoping someone would find him, police said.

The mother had been taken to St. Clare Hospital after she was found "running around" near the intersection of 74th and Tyler. The child was found around 1:30 a.m. Monday along the 8500 block of John Dower Road. The three-month old was found in the grass by a passerby, and was uninjured.
