It's Not Too Late to Sign Up As a Vendor At City's Inaugural Farmers Market

Organizers hoping for 30 vendors at market which kicks off July 10 and runs every Tuesday through Aug. 28.

There will be arts and crafts, produce and live entertainment – and organizers are hoping there’s even more to come.

The inaugural Lakewood Farmers Market will kick off July 10. The pilot project between the city and a community leadership team will run every Tuesday through Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of City Hall, 6000 Main Street S.W.

Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Mary Dodsworth said the market is hoping for 30 vendors.

“We have a list confirmed, but we need additional participants,” she said in a statement. “It’s not too early or too late to sign-up.”

Potential vendors and entertainers can download applications at http://www.cityoflakewood.us/farmersmarket.

The purpose of the market is to create a sense of community and celebrate Lakewood’s unique assets, as well as provide fresh, healthy food choices for local residents.

 “The new Farmers Market will provide a place in the city center for citizens to meet, greet and buy fresh foods and crafts in a casual and festive environment,” said City Manager Andrew Neiditz, in a statement.
