JBLM Resident Wounded In Parkland Shooting

The accidental shooting happened Saturday afternoon at a home in Parkland.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A man stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord was seriously wounded after he was shot accidentally at a Parkland apartment on Saturday.

The 23-year-old JBLM resident was shot by a 22-year-old who pulled the trigger on a gun he thought was unloaded, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune. The JBLM man was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center with a serious wound and was reportedly in critical condition. The 22-year-old was arrested and held on suspicion of first-degree assault, according to the report.

The accidental shooting happened around 3 p.m. Saturday. The two men were in an apartment along 115th Street Court East with other people, and were apparently dry-firing pistols. The 22-year-old was using the laser sight on a gun when he pointed it at the 23-year-old, not knowing there was a round in the chamber, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune.
