JBLM Sends 200 Soldiers To Fight Fast-Spreading Fires
The troops are being sent to Oregon to put out blazes that have destroyed a national forest.

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCHORD, WA - Two hundred active-duty soldiers stationed at JBLM will join the fight against wildfires raging in Oregon, the Associated Press reported. Fourteen fires in the Umpqua National Forest have already ravaged 47 square miles. The soldiers will join 1,000 firefighters already combating the blaze.
Wildfires are burning across the Northwest due to excessively dry and hot conditions. The nearby Norse Peak fire has already consumed more than 18,000 acres and recently caused the evacuation of Crystal Mountain Ski Resort.
