Lakes Dance Team Earns First Place at District Competition, Will Compete at State

The team took first at the West Central District Dance Competition, receiving the highest score ever for a Lancers dance team. It will now compete for the state title March 24 in Yakima.

I just got this note from Deb Yearsley, student accounts secretary at , who wanted to share some big new about the school's dance team. It had state-qualifying performances on Saturday at the West Central District Dance Competition:

"Lakes Hip Hop Team brought home first place and qualified to compete in the WIAA state competition on March 24 at the SunDome in Yakima. They scored a 272.5 out of 300, giving them the highest score of the competition and the highest score ever received by a Lakes dance team at any competition. Lakes POM team also qualified to compete in the state competition. Rylan Bonnevie, Krystal Kim, Katrina Villanueva, Rachel Wegener, and Ashley Mendez qualified for state drill downs with Rylan and Krystal taking second and third place at districts."

Big ups to dancers over at Lakes, whose moves have them poised for a succesful run at state. By the way, if you need any last-minute subs, I can do a pretty mean pop-and-lock. Otherwise, great job everyone and good luck!
